The Citibank on 13 September said that its female workers will have the option to seek working from home for a duration of up to 12 months after the conclusion of their 26-week maternity leave. The company in a press statement said that a woman employee may also ask for three months of work from home during her final trimester of pregnancy, following evaluation and permission. For expectant or new mothers, this may provide a total of 21 months of work from home.

“We are thrilled to pioneer this for our female employees across the Citi India franchise. In accordance with the majority of studies on women’s labour force involvement, women are more likely to leave the workforce or take a protracted hiatus during this stage, which has an effect on their careers and ultimately the proportion of women in senior positions in organisations,” stated Aditya Mittal, Chief Human Resources Officer for Citi India and South Asia.

Currently, Citi India employs over 30,000 people, with 38% of those being women, including 30% in mid-level and senior roles. He also added that this was an appropriate measure to guarantee the maintenance of the potential of women and assist their professional objectives at this critical juncture, and this could encourage more business ventures to carry out the government’s vision.
