OpenAI Appoints Former Nextdoor CEO Sarah Friar As Its First CFO
OpenAI appointed Sarah Friar as CFO and Kevin Weil as chief product officer, following co-founder Ilya Sutskever’s May departure, with Jakub Pachocki succeeding him as chief scientist
OpenAI has announced that it had appointed Sarah Friar, the former CEO of Nextdoor, as its first chief financial officer. Friar brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as CFO at Square and currently sitting on Walmart’s board. Her extensive background also includes positions at Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, and Salesforce.
In addition to Friar, OpenAI has named Kevin Weil as its chief product officer. Weil has a notable history in the tech industry, with previous roles at Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. His expertise is expected to significantly contribute to OpenAI’s product strategy and development.
These new appointments come in the wake of the departure of OpenAI co-founder and chief scientist Ilya Sutskever in May. Sutskever was replaced by Jakub Pachocki, marking a significant shift in the company’s leadership team as it continues to expand its influence in the field of artificial intelligence.
