Poor Tech Results Loss Of 25 Weeks In A Year: Report

As many as 93 per cent of Indian business leaders and 87 per cent of employees overwhelmingly agree that poor technology tools hurt their working productivity

About 93 per cent of Indian business leaders and 87 per cent of employees agree that poor technology tools hurt their working productivity, while 40 per cent believe that they are losing 2-4 hours a day, resulting in up to a loss of 25 weeks (6 months) per working year, according to a report by Adobe.

The Future of Digital Work India research report stated that 99 per cent feel AI will accelerate their work by removing redundant tasks so that they can lead to more time for engaging and meaningful work and the production of high-quality output. 

However, only 59 per cent of respondents reported that their companies currently use generative AI.

According to the report, digital literacy among knowledge workers stood higher than the global average at 82 per and nearly 8 in 10 considering their digital literacy skills are above average. However, more than 5 in 10 i.e., 55 per cent of employees’ work is paper-based, while 12 per cent work fully paperless.

About the notions of productivity, 90 per cent of respondents emphasised the importance of impactful work rather than the number of hours or days. A resounding consensus indicates that a 4-day work week would aid productivity. The report further highlighted success in the workplace is prioritised by impact alongside volume and speed. 

On the point of adopting technology, Indian knowledge workers rely more on digital tools and platforms with 89 per cent acknowledging the importance of technology in enhancing productivity. While 89 per cent of knowledge workers agree that poor technology tools negatively affect their productivity. out of these, 24 per cent believe poor technology killing their working productivity. 

Poor technology also has a significant impact on talent retention as 40 per cent of employees are considering quitting their jobs in the next 6 months because their workplace technology is holding back their productivity. This is very high in full-time remote workers with 57 per cent. 

Half of the knowledge workers 50 per cent look for access to technology before accepting a job offer.
