SpiceJet, will be suspending its services in the hilly state Sikkim from 30 October due to “operational constraints”. It is the only carrier which runs daily flights to and from the greenfield airport in Sikkim’s Pakyong.

This move not only affect the tourism industry in the land-locked state, but will also great inconvenience to locals. Previously people were able to avail flight services as and when available, however the situation will not be as same as before, said officials.
An official from tourism department said that they hope the services to resume early in next year as the weather is usually supportive during time of the year.
