Sale For Retail Traders Witness Surge Over Rs 1.25 Lakh Cr This Festive Season

By celebrating the festival as “Apni Diwali – Bhartiya Diwali”, the traders this year focused on selling exclusively Indian products, according to CAIT. With the changing pace in a way of doing business across globe, Indian traders too are changing the existing mode of their business by incorporating usage of digital technology

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said that with the beginning of Navratri this year, from 26 September and till 23 October, nearly 1.25 lakh crore and above business has already taken place in the nation, on 24 October. 

By celebrating the festival as “Apni Diwali – Bhartiya Diwali”, the traders this year focused on selling exclusively Indian products, according to CAIT. It enabled robust sales for small scale industries, local businesses, craftsmen, artistes, artisans etc. which led to splendid performance in business for the products made by them. 

CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that expectedly the total business sale this Diwali would cross 1.50 lakh crore turning it into a major boon to retail trade of India.

With the changing pace in a way of doing business across globe, Indian traders too are changing the existing mode of their business by incorporating usage of digital technology.

Khandelwal said that today computers, laptops, mobiles are worshiped by traders in Diwali Puja. And not limiting to it, biometric machines, electronic cash tellers, POS terminals for accepting digital payments, etc. were also part of Diwali Puja.

As today, all the business is done with the help of GST portal and it has replaced the traditional ledger accounts too, the GST Portal and its types of software is also worshiped, he added.

The Indian traders have traditionally been doing Diwali Puja at their business establishments on the occasion of Diwali. However, with the changing times, majority of businesses have taken a shift to digital technology. Therefore, by worshipping all types of digital tools, Diwali Puja is celebrated today by traders in the country, said Khandelwal.
