NTPC Registers 62% YoY Growth In Coal Production
NTPC attributed engagement of high-capacity dumpers as well as increase in its existing fleet size of excavators to increase the coal production from its operational mines
India’s largest thermal power generator NTPC has registered a robust 62 per cent year-on-year growth in coal production from its captive mines in the April-August period in FY23, government data released on Friday showed. The state-owned power generator produced 7.36 MMT of coal in the period under review compared to 4.55 MMT a year ago.
NTPC also registered a 37 per cent growth in its coal dispatches from its captive mines in the period under review. It dispatched 7.52 MMT of coal compared to 5.47 MMT a year ago. “With meticulous planning, resource mobilisation, and regular monitoring, NTPC has achieved substantial growth even during the monsoon period, so far, and is hopeful of sustaining the growth that will help in ensuring uninterrupted, reliable and affordable power generation,” a statement from power ministry read.
