India Trade Promotion Organisation Gets Pradeep Singh Kharola as Their New CMD

Kharola’s appointment is accepted by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) as ITPO’s CMD. It is based on a contract for two years from the date he assumes the charge of the post. This year in March, he took charge as the chairman of the National Recruitment Agency (NRA). He will continue to extend his services as NRA’s chairman until a regular incumbent is appointed replacing him, according to the order

According to an order issued by Personnel Ministry in 19 October, Former Civil Aviation Secretary Pradeep Singh Kharola is the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO). 

Kharola, is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Karnataka cadre from the 1985 batch. Last year in September, he retired as the secretary to civil aviation. This year in March, he took charge as the chairman of the National Recruitment Agency (NRA). The agency holds responsibility of recruitment for government job through conducting computer-based Common Eligibility Tests.

B V R Subrahmanyam was appointed by the ACC as the ITPO chief for two years in the last month after he retired as the Commerce Secretary on 30 September. 

Subrahmanyam, is an IAS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre from the 1987 batch. He was in charge as the chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir when 2019 Union territories happened resulting in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh. 

The ITPO, the Commerce and Industry Ministry’s premier trade promotion enterprise, has responsibility of managing the nation’s world-class exhibition complex Pragati Maidan in the national capital. The G-20 summit will be happening next year at the Pragati Maidan for which it is being redeveloped as the revolutionary International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC). 

Presently, the 90th Interpol General Assembly is being hosted at Pragati Maidan. Delegations from around 195 Interpol member countries are attending the event, which began on 18 October 18 and will conclude on 21 October.
