Centre Plans To Privatise Two More Government Companies

The central government is planning fast for privatization. Under this, two government companies can be disinvested soon. Now the government can invite Expression of Interest (EOI) for strategic disinvestment of BEML and Shipping Corporation of India (SCI). It is being told that the merger of land and non-core assets of both the companies can be completed by October. Under this, the government is planning to fast-track the secondary market offers of National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) and Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCF), among others.

The government is evaluating all the potential candidates and a decision will be taken based on the market conditions. The EOI for IDBI Bank disinvestment will also be invited soon, the official said. The Center is expected to complete the demerger of BEML next month. The Board of the Company has fixed September 9 as the record date for determining the eligible shareholders for 1:1 issue of shares of BEML Land Assets Limited. “Once the process is over, we will come out with the EOI by November,” the official said.

The government plans to sell 26 per cent stake in BEML. The Center has also expedited the process of segregation of non-core assets of SCI. Officials said the company is expected to get the necessary regulatory approvals for the demerger by mid-October.
