Bankers Association To Stage Strike On 19 Nov Against Victimisation

Banking services will get affected nationwide on 19 November. The members of the All-India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) will be pulling a strike, informed an official.

The protest aims against targeting the victimisation of bankers for being active in the union.

General Secretary, AIBEA, C.H. Venkatachalam believe that in recent times, along with increasing attacks, there exists a common thread in all these attacks.

Venkatachalam addressing the member said that these attacks are made in a designed way. And there exist some method in the madness. Therefore, all need to resist, retort and repulse such attacks at the AIBEA level as a whole.

The union leaders of AIBEA have been dismissed/retrenched from services by Sonali Bank, MUFG Bank, Federal Bank and Standard Chartered Bank, said Venkatachalam.

He said that said government banks such as Bank of Maharashtra is denying holding trade union rights. Whereas Canara Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and IDBI Bank are outsource various banking activities.

According to him, it is the ‘jungle raj’ with the management resorting to indiscriminate transfers, at the Central Bank of India.

Transfers of Over 3,300 clerical staff have happened from one to another station violating the bipartite settlement and bank level settlement said Venkatachalam.

Prior to the nationwide strike, AIBEA members will host other various protests.
