Tata Motors Opens Two Hydrogen Propulsion Technology Centres

Tata Motors on Monday stated that it has opened two research and development facilities in Pune for the development of hydrogen propulsion technology. The facilities indicate yet another step towards carbon neutrality for the corporation, while also utilising the significant potential of hydrogen as a clean energy source, it noted.

The disclosure includes an engine test cell for the development of hydrogen internal combustion engines, as well as the infrastructure required for the storage and dispensing of hydrogen fuel for fuel cell and hydrogen to internal combustion engine (H2ICE) vehicles, according to a statement from the automaker.

“We believe that hydrogen is the fuel of the future, particularly for commercial vehicles. We are entering a new era of technological innovations and advancements in green mobility with the opening of this dedicated R&D facility to develop and indigenise hydrogen propulsion technology,” said Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors.
