India Inc Rethinks Work From Home As Covid Cases Rising

The Central government has made mandatory Covid-19 testing for all travelers coming from Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Thailand

In light of the mounting COVID-19 cases in several nations and worries about a worldwide recession, India Inc. is being cautious with its hiring plans. If a fourth wave hits India, businesses in the tourism, hospitality, transportation, and real estate sectors may potentially provide work-from-home opportunities. The Central government has made mandatory covid-19 testing for all travelers coming from Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Thailand.

China is striving hard to overcome the BF.7 variant. Covid cases are increasing in Japan, the US, South Korea and Brazil. Mala Chawla, Managing Partner, Singapore and India, for recruitment firm Stanton Chase said that the covid news is coming at a time there was a slowdown in hiring. She also added that sectors like consumer and manufacturing have not stopped hiring. 

While active cases in India have been on a decline, the government has directed state governments to ensure covid-appropriate healthcare infrastructure, including medical oxygen equipment, is in place and functioning properly. Along with rise in covid cases, the companies are also cautious to the forecast of recession. As per the experts of the industry, the human resource sector is anticipating rise in the demand of certain profile if fourth wave of covid hit India.
