India’s retail inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) eased to 6.77 per cent in October from 7.41 per cent last month

India’s Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation declined to a 21-month low of 5.85 per cent in November, as per the data released by the central government on Wednesday. 

In October 2022, wholesale inflation eased to 8.39 per cent from 10.70 per cent in September. WPI inflation figure at 5.85 per cent is a huge 470 basis points lower than what it was just two months ago.

Also, this is the first time the WPI inflation has been lower than CPI inflation since February 2021, 

India’s retail inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) eased to 6.77 per cent in October from 7.41 per cent last month, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on Monday.

The decline in retail inflation can be attributed to a favourable base effect. 

Inflation in the food industry for October was 7.01 per cent, down from 8.6 per cent in September. Vegetable prices increased by 7.7 per cent annually.
