Tea Exports Dipped During Jan- Sept 2023: Data

India’s tea exports decreased slightly by 2.23 percent during the first seven months of 2023, from January to July, to 114.60 million kilogrammes, according to the most recent Tea Board data.
The amount of tea exported over the same time period in 2022 was 117.21 million kilogrammes. In the first seven months of the current calendar year, exports from North India, which mostly consists of the states of Assam and West Bengal, were 69.56 million kilogrammes, down from 70.56 million kilogrammes in the prior comparable period.
According to the data, exports from South India decreased as well, falling to 45.04 million kilogrammes from January to July of 2023 from 46.65 million kilogrammes in the similar period of 2022.
In the first seven months of calendar 2023, unit price realisation from exports also decreased to Rs 265 per kilogramme from Rs 270.85 per kilogramme in the prior comparable period of 2022. Tea exports from the nation totaled 231.08 million kilogrammes for the entire year 2022.
