Kumar has more than two decades of experience working with startups like CarDekho group, InsuranceDekho, big conglomerates like GlaxoSmithKline and Walmart-acquired Flipkart. Over the past six years, Kumar has been an integral part of the CarDekho group, initially serving as the Head of Finance for the entire group. In 2021, he started leading the finance charter as the CFO of InsuranceDekho.
Kumar disrupted the startup landscape with his fundraising efforts with InsuranceDekho where he helped raise over $200 million in a single year in 2023. InsuranceDekho with its Series A funding of $150 million secured the largest-ever insurtech investment in South-East Asia.
Kumar’s expertise in bringing in giants like Goldman Sachs Asset Management and TVS Capital Funds along with other investors like Investcorp, Avataar Ventures, and LeapFrog Investments in Series A, and Japanese giant Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, BNP Paribas Cardif, BeamsFintech Fund, amongst others, have solidified InsuranceDekho’s position in the market.
His strategic efforts have made sure that there is an efficient use of credit facilities while maintaining lender relationships, mitigating credit risks, and ensuring compliance with the regulatory requirements of Irdai, the insurance regulator.
