RBI Appoints Muneesh Kapur As New Executive Director
Kapur was Adviser-in-Charge, Monetary Policy Department and Secretary to the Monetary Policy Committee
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Muneesh Kapur as Executive Director (ED) with effect from 3 October 2023.
Kapur was Advisor-in-Charge, Monetary Policy Department and Secretary to the Monetary Policy Committee, prior to being promoted as ED.
He joined the Reserve Bank of India in 1990. Over a career span of nearly three decades in the Reserve Bank, Kapur has worked in numerous areas of macroeconomic policy and research.
He has worked towards framing monetary policies in the Department of Economic Policy and Research and Monetary Policy Department in RBI. He also served as Advisor to the Executive Director, International Monetary Fund(IMF) between 2012-15.
He was also advisor to the executive director for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka, IMF, Washington, DC in the year 2012. In his role as Executive Director, Kapur is going to look after the Department of Economic and Policy Research.
Muneesh Kapur holds a Master’s degree in Economics and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).
