Arun Kumar Singh Likely To Be Next ONGC Head

This is the first time a top PSU board-level position going to be represented by a person aged over 60 after the oil ministry gave the age relaxation criteria

Arun Kumar Singh is likely to be the new head of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). He has served as chairman of the oil refining and marketing company BPCL. If he is selected, he will get three years as head of the cash-rich Public Sector Unit (PSU).

This is the first time a top PSU board-level position going to be represented by a person aged over 60 after the oil ministry gave the age relaxation criteria. The previous age criteria were 58 years if the applicant is from within the PSU and 57 years for the external candidates at the time of vacancy.

ONGC is without a regular head and managing director since April 2021. He has been already selected as the head of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) before interviewing for the ONGC head post.
The age relaxation made Singh, Mukesh Kumar Surana, who retired as chairman and managing director of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) on April 30, and Subhash Kumar, who retired as acting chairman of ONGC on December 31 2021, as qualified for the vacant post.
