The Twitter-India has begun laying off its employees in the name of global job cut. The social media platform’s new owner Elon Musk has ordered such move to attain economies of scale and make the USD 44 billion acquisition viable.
World’s richest businessman Musk fired the CEO Parag Agrawal along with the CFO and some other top executives, as soon he took his hold on Twitter during last week.
The multibillionaire tycoon has now initiated a massive exercise to reduce the company’s global workforce. This came after an exodus of top management.
The lay-off started with some the employees receiving email notification about the same. The lay-offs have affected a major chunk of the Twitter-India workforce, reported a media house.
In order to ensure safety of employees along with Twitter systems and customer data, The company will be closing all the offices temporarily.
Twitter had said, “If you are in an office or on your way to an office, please return home,”
Although Twitter had been in various disputes with the government over freedom of speech, the company through email barred its employees from discussing and disclosing any confidential company information on social media, with the press or elsewhere.
