BP Appoints Kate Thomson As Interim CFO
Kate Thomson has been named interim chief financial officer, according to British Petroleum’s announcement. Currently, Kate serves as the senior vice president of finance for manufacturing and operations at BP. She has worked with BP for 19 years and has held a number of high financial positions, including group treasurer and head of group tax. Her appointment comes after Murray Auchincloss’ selection as interim chief executive officer of BP last week.
“Kate’s experience and skills make her ideally suited to take on the role of interim CFO. She brings deep technical knowledge together with a detailed understanding of BP, and has a first-class track record of leadership across our finance function,” commented Murray Auchincloss, interim CEO, BP.
Kate formerly worked in professional services firms, including Ernst & Young in M&A tax and as group head of tax for Charter plc, before joining BP in 2004. She has also served on the boards of several BP Group companies in addition to Aker BP for the past seven years. She is a certified chartered accountant.
