Employee green skill

India already outperformed a number of other nations when it comes to the development of green skills among employees in the automotive industry, according to LinkedIn’s Global Green Skills Report 2023. Having a 40 per cent increase in the past five years, India has outperformed the USA, Mexico, Canada and several European nations in terms of the proportion of its workforce having at least one EV skill.

The concentration of green talents in the finance sector has increased by a median of 14.8 per cent over the previous year, indicating that it is going green rather quickly. In contrast, the economy as a whole had a 12.3 per cent increase in employment, a 6.6 per cent increase in utility spending and an 11.7 per cent increase in manufacturing.

In the upcoming years, it is anticipated that the demand for people with green talents would increase even more. Although estimates vary and different industry experts place different amounts of job creation in the EV sector, everyone appears to agree that millions of new positions are being generated.

India experienced largest five-year increase from 2018 to 2023 of 140 per cent, where 5.1 per cent of auto workers currently possess EV capabilities. Between 2018 and 2023, the share of auto workers with EV skills increased by an annualised rate of more than 14 per cent, placing India among the least developed EV markets, the report stated.

Huge investments in new infrastructure and innovation, from EV charging stations and solar power facilities to tech companies researching new climate solutions, will be needed to achieve the entire economy’s transition necessary to battle climate change, the report added.
